GAMBLING AWAY THE GOLDEN YEARS

Course Number: G1100
Course Length: 2 hours

COURSE DESCRIPTION

All too often, senior years end up being anything but golden. Pain and illness may limit mobility. Spouses, friends and loved ones die. Family homes are sold. Older adults may turn to gambling as a way to socialize and cope with sadness.

During this course you will learn how grief and other issues may initiate vulnerabilities in older adults to develop a gambling disorder, recognize 'soft signs' of a gambling disorder, and integrate the lived experience of older adults who have engaged in problem/disordered gambling.

At the completion of this course, you will be able to integrate research-based information into prevention, intervention and treatment services for older adults who may develop gambling disorders.
